Lose the Wrinkles and Look Younger

By Anne Fennell

With new developments happening all the time, treating facial wrinkles has become more specialized with a better understanding of cosmetic treatments. No one wants to be though of as "old" but sadly in this world, having younger looking skin is very important and if there are visible wrinkles others will not find a person as attractive.

What is the process of wrinkle treatments like? There are a lot of choices in where to receive these procedures, but what should a person know when considering treatment? Below, we will look further into what these processes entail for wrinkle treatments.

Exactly what is involved when getting wrinkle treatments?

Toxins in the air are all around us, whether it comes from the exhaust from cars, the smoke from cigarettes, or the burning rays of the sun, skin takes it's share of damage and abuse. Wrinkles are just another name for the not very appealing lines that appear on one's face, and in the case of numerous lines, the problem is just compounded.

Botulinum toxin is used to smooth out the fine lines in one's face, and these wrinkle treatments can make a big difference aesthetically. Laser treatments, simple skin creams, and chemical peels are other options that are designed to accomplish this goal. The popularity of botox treatments is gaining ground quickly, despite the other options available. There are those who use less effective products such as anti-wrinkle creams that have expensive ad campaigns backing them.

Which is the most effective treatment?

At this time, this can not be answered with a high degree of certainty. Everyone is different, so the treatments chosen are tailored to the specific needs of the patient. From the available data and result, it appears that dermal fillers and botox injection have very good results, which is probably why they are so popular.

What is the average length of the effects?

This depends on the type of treatment patients decide to have. Skin creams have short lived effects and need repeat application often, sometimes daily to show any effect whatsoever. The effects of dermal fillers such as botox treatments last for months, as these methods are superior.

Cost and cost efficiency

For treatments such as these, it can't be done for a bargain price. Advanced techniques such as dermal fillers, skin rejuvenation methods and botox injections can cost anywhere from $300 to $3000 (or even more) depending on the person that is performing the procedure. If someone doesn't mind applying skin creams every day and buying more often, this is an option for some. After a period of time, the proper cost of treatments and the results obtained can be measured more accurately. Overall however, it may be that botox injections and dermal fillers are the most cost effective amongst all the treatments available for face wrinkles. CO2 lasers are touted by certain physicians as being the treatments that are most cost effective.

Recovery time after treatment

No recovery time is necessary for skin creams. However, amongst the more advanced treatments of facial wrinkles, it appears that microdermabrasion probably has the least downtime. This of course does not mean that it is the greatest treatment available, or that patients prefer the treatment process any more, as it is reported to be kind of unpleasant.

Synopsis

A wide variety of treatments exist when it comes to facial wrinkle reduction processes. Each of them has their own upsides and downsides. There are many factors to consider, including cost, the type of treatment and the comfort of the process itself, and the experience and professional nature of the treatment provider.
